In Loving Memory
Melody Joy (Tullock) Crandall

Melody Joy Crandall
To date, almost $2000 has been donated to the Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund, Inc. in memory of Melody Joy (Tullock) Crandall, who recently lost her courageous seven-year battle with breast cancer at the young age of 47.

Melody was described by her friends as a wonderful person and an "animal angel."   An avid animal lover, Melody and her family rescued several dogs and cats throughout the years.

One of Melody's favorite parts of the day was sitting in the back yard watching her collies play.

In  the last months of her life, Melody saw "Growing Up Gorilla," about CWAF's work with Nona and Yeba, on Animal Planet and was filled with joy and amazement.  She loved "Growing Up Gorilla" so much that her husband Karl burned a DVD of the show for her.

Melody never tired of her gorilla friends.  She learned each one by name and and used to quiz Karl because she thought he wasn't paying attention.
Karl used to wake up at all hours of the night to find Melody watching the DVD again.  She had hopes that she would live long enough to visit Cameroon and one day meet the animals that brought her so much joy.  On October 19, 2007, Melody and her family took a trip to the Bronx Zoo, where she sat for hours making faces at the gorillas and trying to get them to talk to her.

Melody is survived by her loving husband Karl; her beloved daughter Nancy Crandall; her dovoted mother Joyce Tullock; and her brother Ian Tullock.  Her last wishes were that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made in her name to the Cameroon Wildlife Aid Fund, Inc.
